At Level 2 you will explore the foundation acting skills required for performance and gain an understanding of the performing arts industry. You will be able to demonstrate your skills in a variety of performance opportunities throughout the one year course.

At Level 3 you will begin by following the one year 90 Credit Diploma in Acting, equivalent to 1.5 A Level qualifications. On successful completion you will be eligible to progress to the second year of the programme to undertake the Extended Diploma, equivalent to three full A Levels.

You will be trained in the key areas of acting through practical workshops, seminars and classroom based activities. Further study of acting will take place though performing scripted plays and devising theatre. You will cover a range of topics such as:

  • Principles of Acting
  • Improvisation
  • Audition Technique
  • Voice
  • Physical Theatre
  • Film and TV Acting
  • Classical Theatre
  • Theatre for Children
  • Directing
  • Performing Arts Business
  • Contemporary Theatre

Many of these subjects will be explored through practical activities that will be supported by written log books and research. You will have many opportunities to perform to an audience, including public performances in the college’s well-resourced theatres and professional venues.

Alongside your main training you will also explore work-related skills together with Maths and English for those who have not yet achieved a GCSE in these subjects.
